I wanted to write and thank you and the town of Holyhead for the marvellous welcome that we received as passengers on the P&O cruise ship Arcadia on Sunday 14th July. We were most impressed by the friendly Welcome Team that greeted our arrival and particularly by the male voice choir concert. It was such an enjoyable event and gave a real feel for the warmth of the people in the town. The young male soloist was especially impressive, to the point where a few of us shed a tear or two during his solo performance despite not understanding a word!
We live in the Northwest and have visited Angelsey several times, spending a very pleasant day walking around Holyhead Mountain, but were really only aware of Holyhead as a port so had not set our expectations overly high for our visit. We visited 10 UK and Ireland ports altogether on what was a most enjoyable cruise, but nowhere gave us quite such a warm and well planned welcome as Holyhead.
The sunshine on the day was, of course, just the icing on the cake.
Please pass on our thanks to those involved.
